About the Event

The meeting is held in conjunction with the Muscle Shoals National Heritage Area and the University of North Alabama Department of History at the University of North Alabama on February 28-29, 2020. Dr. Matthew Downs will deliver the keynote address on Friday, February 28, 2020 at 7:00pm: "Power for the People: Muscle Shoals, the Tennessee Valley Authority, and the South's New Deal." The talk is free and open to the public. Dinner will be served prior to the talk at 6:00. Tickets are available to conference attendees and the general public. The conference continues on Saturday, February 29. Conference attendance is free, though lunch attendance does require a ticket and is open to conference attendees and the general public. Hannah Garmon of the Alabama Historical Commission will be giving the lunch address: "Why Local History is Important and How to Document it."  Conference presenters must be members of the AAH.
